Highlighting new strategies to help students succeed, Superintendent Michelle King released a new video welcoming L.A. Unified families to the 2017-18 school year.
There will be a renewed focus on attendance, strengthening efforts to ensure that every student comes to class every day, on time and ready to learn, King said. A new online attendance dashboard will allow principals and other administrators to track progress and trends, while a new attendance advisory group will offer suggestions and insights for ways to improve.
In her video, the superintendent also spotlights new early education programs, so that the youngest learners are put on the track to success from the time they enter school. And for older students, there are new opportunities for personalized learning, with additional arts and technology-rich programs laying down pathways toward success.
“We continue to celebrate our achievements,” King said, “and work even harder to accelerate our pace toward 100 percent graduation.”
